Commercial Demolition FAQs

Feb 28, 2023

Since 1967, Triple M Demolition (TMD), has been providing safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible demolition services for industrial, commercial, and municipal clients in Ontario. Whether it’s a single-storey building or a complex industrial structure, we have the knowledge, equipment, and experience to handle any demolition in a safe and effective manner. With over 50 years in business, TMD has a wealth of information to share, so we decided to put together this blog with answers to the top commercial demolition FAQs that we receive.

How are hazardous materials handled?

TMD is licensed in environmental abatement and remediation, including asbestos, lead, mould, PCB, and other hazardous materials. Our team will perform an in-depth site visit to assess your property and then plan for a safe and effective removal. Once completed, all materials are disposed of in an environmentally-responsible manner.

What precautions are taken in environmentally sensitive areas?

When TMD is working in an environmentally sensitive area, we work closely with the owner and a representative from the Ministry of Natural Resources and/or the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks to ensure that the area is properly protected. Both representatives will provide clear guidelines for the job site and indicate which areas are to be protected. We will then determine a way to complete the job while protecting the sensitive area.

Who handles permits?

Permits are something that is generally handled by the owner. We will happily aid in the process when necessary, in terms of helping with resources or making the right connections, but in our experience, this is not usually needed.

How do you handle working in operational buildings?

Every project that we take on is different and requires unique considerations. TMD has a lot of experience working in operational buildings. For more insight into how we have handled those particular jobs, check out our blog on that topic.

Do you sell salvaged materials?

No, but we will redirect interested parties to a third-party company. We don’t resell any scrap materials either, we recycle them.

How do you hire?

We only hire union employees, and on our projects, we treat them like they’re our employees. Every employee is invited to our events as well as community and fundraising events. We match the skills of our employees to the projects they are assigned to ensure employee satisfaction and project success. Our focus is on building tight-knit teams and work to ensure that personalities are appropriately matched.

We work hard to keep good people employed with us. This includes training and career progression. We are proud to say that we have some employees that have been with us for over a decade!
